About:

Did you know that the pigments in a Kingfisher’s plumage are actually a dull brown not the vibrant flashes of azure and blue we think of? Neither did I.

Its colours are the result of its feather structure interacting with passing sunlight. The light scatters and amplifies the blue light in the suns rays; giving way to the electric blue and turquoise variations we know and love. For me, it’s the perfect symbol of spring - two natural things, the sun and the bird, communing together to give rise to something beautiful.

‘Scattered Blue’ aims to celebrate the beauty of nature’s design, and to remind us that nature always has a plan. We just have to trust in it, and something beautiful will always result.
